After reading this, I can really see why this was one of the highest rated books of 2021. It really had everything: romance, thrills and trying to find identity.

I loved the story and its Native American influence. I don't think I've ever read a book that was so steeped in native traditions and culture, and it's definitely something I'd love to cycle in to my TBR.

At some points, the book was a bit long and slow; there was a lot of repetition, but I had to remind myself it was a YA book written for a younger demographic. I would've liked some flashback scenes to tell the story of her parents, but at the same time, I really think that could be another book.

I found the time period the author decided to set this in to be an interesting choice. I had to remind myself it was taking place in the early 2000s. I'm definitely curious as to why she chose that!

Netflix (and the Obama's) are making this into a series and I really can't wait for that. This book deserves to be read -- and seen -- by as many people as possible.
