I cannot believe I slept on this book for so long! To be very honest, I was a little intimidated by all the hype, and since it isn't my usual style, I was okay with not picking it up. SO. MUCH. REGRET. My book club selected it for our book this month, and I could not be happier at the decision!
To say I loved this book would be an understatement. I adored the writing style beyond words. It was absolutely magical and wonderously beautiful right from the very beginning. At first I picked up my hard copy of the book, but I quickly switched to an audiobook version for the specific reason of hearing all of the beautiful Anishinaabe words pronounced as they deserve to be. There is so much heart and soul in these pages.
And can we mention how amazingly beautiful the cover of this book is?! It has beautiful artristry and so much symbolism that I finished the book and had to pull it out to stare at it so I could make all the connections.
Don't be like me. Go read this book asap.
