Thank you to BookishFirst, LibroFM, and Henry, Holt, and Co for this book! (I had an ALC from Libro, and a finished copy from Bookishfirst and the publisher).

Daunis is newly graduated from high school when her entire life changes. After witnessing a murder, she is dragged into an FBI investigation revolving around the distribution of meth among a nearby Ojibwe reservation. Daunis is caught between doing what is right for her family and doing what is right for the investigation.

I absolutely loved this book. I was able to listen while reading, and the audiobook is so good! (It was also really helpful for the words I didn't know how to pronounce.)

I loved how deeply I felt with Daunis and the struggles she was facing. I seriously cried...a lot of times while reading this book. I loved Jamie, and Daunis' mom and aunt, and I loved the tension between Daunis' two worlds. This was also a really interesting (though very heavy) mystery and I was so invested in finding out what was going on and getting justice.

Some of my favorite parts were the inclusion of hockey, Daunis' scientific mind, and the different ways she chose to communicate.

I was absolutely enamored with this book and can't wait to see what else Angeline Boulley will have in store.
