This book is perfection wrapped up in a gorgeous cover. As soon as I started reading this book I fell head-over-heels in love with it for so many reasons. The writing is spot on and perfect; it has the feel of someone who has been telling and writing stories since the day they were born. The plot moves at a perfect pace and the characters and settings are so well-fleshed out, you can absolutely picture everything and everyone as you read.

This book is categorized as a thriller, but I think it should be categorized as something else entirely. The story and the work of the author do so much important work, especially when it comes to an Indigenous piece. This book brings to light a plethora of important topics and subjects that often get pushed to the back, such as racism, sexism, injustice within and inflicted upon the Indigenous populations, violence, loss of identity, and drug and substance abuse. This story also takes an interesting approach to look at both grief (and loss of family, culture, etc.) and microaggressions that happen all the time without people thinking or actively realizing. While these topics are all quite heavy, there is never a heavy or sad or eventually hopeless feel to this book, which is a difficult balance to strike. Reading this book makes you feel happy and hopeful, while also providing a satisfying story.

This book is a must-read for all ages, nations, ethnicities, genders, etc.
