"Firekeeper's Daughter" is the story of Daunis Fontaine, an Ojibwe teenager who becomes an informant for an FBI investigation after the murder of her best friend, Lily. The more Daunis digs, the more she finds, unearthing secrets that prove things are much more complicated than they seem.

This book absolutely blew me away. I was captivated by the mystery elements of the story and the intricacies of the Daunis' grief, anger, and love for her community. I was torn between wanting to get to the end so I'd know what happens and never finishing so I'd have more time with the characters. I loved the Daunis had such a strong community around her, despite not feeling it at times, as well as the natural inclusion of her cultural practices in her everyday life. The big reveal absolutely rocked me, but the little clues added up in hindsight which I think is the best kind of reveal.
