I couldnt put it down
The cover was what originally drew me in but, this book was an amazing mystery and I loved how it incorporated indigenous culture into it. I have never read any other book that had an indigenous main character. I LOVED how the plot was developed but I felt like at certain I was trudging through a jumble of words. The themes about family and culture really tugged at my heartstrings. The author did an amazing job of reflecting how the actions of the people within a community can affect it, negatively or positively. Daunis was a pretty likeable character but at times I felt like she was a little dumb, and overlooked such obvious signs/clues. It had crime, mystery, romance, and I knew I was going to love it. A majority of the time I felt like there was info-dumping and that led to me skipping over some parts of it. I feel like the book could've been more concise and still would've conveyed the same message. The book is a bit dense and really descriptive (which I liked), but a little difficult to get through. Even though it wasn't the best book I've read, I would read it again. I'm so excited for it to get made into a TV show!!
