This book was pitched as Game of Throne meets Red Rising, neither of which I’ve read, but I have watched the Show Game of Thrones and I have to say this wasn’t anything like it. But I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing, maybe just a pitch that doesn’t fit.
Okay so this is a good book. I want to start by saying that. It had all the worldbuilding a YA book needs and characters that fit in together nicely. But, I think it suffered a little from trying to be too much. Maybe because it was placed against book such as Game of Thrones, I’m not really sure.
But I certainly did enjoy the plot and the characters, especially Annie. The love between Lee and Annie jumps off the page, even when they’re semi pitted against each other. Rosaria Munda did a great job with this and book two is sure to expand upon the world that was presented to us in Fireborne!!!
