I was captivated and sucked in by the very first paragraph of this book! The writing is fast-paced and gripping, the book is tough to put down once you begin.
We have a bloody coup and revolution that will eventually lead to a more just city. But of course the road to get there was anything but just, and there's the wrinkle of the son he let live. I love political fantasies, and I also love dragons, and based on this excerpt I am getting both in spades & my soul is happy!
There is so much world-building laid out in the first two pages alone, along with tension and foreboding - I love stories that kind of start at the end and hint towards the mistakes along the way. I really enjoy seeing how everything transpires and can't wait to read the full book!
