So far, this is a very enjoyable fantasy. I can tell that there is a lot of historical depth built into the world-building here. I'd love to hear more about the politics of the region both pre- and post- Revolution.

I really like the close friend relationship between Lee and Annie. I hope that it remains non-romantic throughout as I prefer friendships to relationships in a story. With Annie's apparent romantic interest in Duck, I think this will stay in my favor

I can't wait to see how Annie handles the pressure if being in the public eye, and is the First Protector going to hold it against her for not throwing the match? Clearly, Lee's rise and revenge will be a huge plotline and I'm excited to see how it turns out.
