With some books, when you're thrown immediately into a story it can be confusing and too much at once, but I think it worked with Fireborne. While from the beginning you have questions about the characters and the world, I can see this is not for a lack of knowledge by the author. I am sure more will unfold as the story progresses.
That being said, I love the idea of this story and the excitement from the very beginning. Sounds like a thrilling ride.
