At first, I thought this was going to be just another YA dragon book, but I ended up liking the excerpt a lot more than I expected. It starts off fairly strong, and while it was a bit overwhelming to have so many characters introduced in just the first chapter, I found both Lee and Annie to be very likable, as well as compelling—their backstories and motivations are quite intriguing. The world is also vibrant and full of tension. I'm really curious to see where this is going to go!
