Powerful Memoir Delivers Life with a Side of Delicious Food

It's important to note that I've never read a memoir before (strictly fiction for me), never been to Maine, I'm not a foodie, and had never heard of the Lost Kitchen or Erin French before I read Finding Freedom. It is also important to note that I adored this book, enjoyed the beautiful writing of Ms. French, and was inspired by her continued perseverance. Before receiving this Advanced Reader Copy from Celadon Books, I would have thought this memoir would have been about dishes I couldn't pronounce and elegant dining I could never experience. However, this is farthest from the truth and Finding Freedom follows Ms. French from her journey working in her parents' diner to running the exclusive Lost Kitchen restaurant. Her experiences with her son, prescription drug abuse, rehab, divorce, and ultimately rediscovering herself lead me to cheer her on throughout the book. Thank you to the author and Celadon for getting me out of my comfort zone for this amazing read!
