Chef Erin French does a deep dive into her background, and the birth of the Lost Kitchen, a restaurant in Freedom, Maine. Erin grew up as a "good girl" in rural Maine, learning the ins and outs of running a diner at her father's side. Erin's childhood seemed more challenging than mine, for example, and I appreciated learning about her background. After high school, she spent two years in Boston at college, but came back to Maine when she got pregnant.

I loved reading Erin's story and learning about the Lost Kitchen and its story! Parts of this story broke my heart - I was outraged at how her husband treated her, and how his behavior seemed to lead to her issues that put her in rehab for a stint. Erin is very resilient, and it's so exciting to watch her grow and develop into a world-class chef. And now I really want to visit the Lost Kitchen! I'll be sending in my postcard as soon as they reopen from the pandemic.
