Ended up a DNF
I do not normally rate books that I have not finished. However, for the sake of completing this review I have given Finding Freedom an average rating of 3 stars.
As I began this book, I immediately felt a disconnect and I was not sure why I was feeling that way. As I continued to read beyond the first chapter, I realized that the style of sharing her story is why I felt the disconnect.
From what I read (I completed 49 pages), I came to realize that this memoir would have been better received if I had previous knowledge of the author. Erin French has a social media presence and because of the writing style chosen, I feel that I would have gotten along better with reading it if she was someone I had interest in prior to starting the book.
The story telling did not flow in a linear way that would have made it easier for my brain to grasp onto and comprehend.
