In Finding Freedom, Erin French shares her story of walking through fire and coming through to forge something new and all her own. I didn't know the story behind The Lost Kitchen and Erin French's background, but this beautifully told story about the successes and hardships that brought her to where she is now, and to create a restaurant in a tiny town that has become a major destination, was absolutely fascinating. French's talent is not just in making food but in storytelling- this is a wonderfully crafted memoir, and she's at her best when she's writing about the food she's lovingly created. She's struggled with addiction, come through a destructive relationship, parented, and walks readers through all these experiences as well as the creation of her restaurant. Her love for the people in her life, for food, for Maine, are all richly on display. A fantastic read for memoir fans!
