I was immediately sucked into this story of the author's life. She writes incredibly compellingly and does a great job drawing the reader into the settings of her childhood. I appreciate the attention to sights, sounds, and smells of her life while she details events in her life. She does a great job writing her family, especially her parents, looking back at their actions as an adult. I can't wait to read the rest of this.
