I really loved this book. I am generally not a person who is overly obsessed with nonfiction titles. I may not have picked this book up if it hadn't been for the lovely cover and intriguing caption. But I am really glad I did because this book was absolutely wonderful! This is the story of Abu Laith, a Mosul city zookeeper in Iraq. It is also the story of Simba the lion, Lula the bear, and countless other animals that Abu Laith saves while under the terror of ISIS occupation of the city. This is a harrowing tale, full of horror and danger but ultimately it is a story of hope and kindness. I would highly recommend everyone to read this book, even if you are not a huge fan of nonfiction I guarantee that you will enjoy it as much as I did.
