Father of Lions was the true story of how some of the animals from the Mosul Zoo was saved. The story is about way more than just the zoo though. Many of us may remember when Isis was spreading across the Middle East like wildfire, and may remember when they took Mosul. This story gives us a glimpse of what it was like to live in the area when Isis took over. How they seemed to be an okay group of people at first, but then living under them seemed like a nightmare. Then being liberated wasn't a picnic either.
If you love animals or love inspirational war stories (and especially if you like both) you might like this book. Rescuing the animals wasn't just pick up the animals, put them on a truck, and take them to safety. This was a bureaucratic adventure that took some ingenuity to save.
