The synopsis actually dissuaded me because a paragraph of it was trying to say if your liked these other listed books, then you’ll like this one. To me, that’s a huge red flag that a book is not that great. After reading the first impression, my initial impression stands. The writing is lackluster and it’s as if the author can’t decide if she wants this to be an article, chronicle, or story. No style stands out and there was sadly little to no character development and certainly nothing that connects the reader to the characters. While I love reading stories about animals and those that care deeply about saving them, this story failed to capture that magic.
