This book was nothing of what I expected and in this case that is is not a good thing.
The title, Fairy Godmothers, Inc., the synopsis on the back of the book and even the cover lead me to think this book was going to be a sweet, family friendly rom com. But this was far from.
The book centers around Lucky and Ransom who share a set of three (fairy) godmothers and a history together. Lucky and Ransom broke up in college following an "embarrassing" incident in the bedroom. Not to give any spoilers, but this so called incident was ridiculous and made even more ridiculous when the author chose to make it a storyline following Ransom from college kid to adult. It was assigned and had I not been reviewing the book I would have tossed it at that point.
The (fairy) godmothers need Lucky and Ransom's help to promote their little town of Ever After as a wedding destination by hosting a fake wedding with Lucky and Ransom as the happy couple. One would assume we would have a build up of Lucky and Ransom getting to know each other again, having not seen each other since college. But no. Sadly the rest of the book seems to revolve around Lucky and Ransom trying to hook up with a dark cloud of unluck over Luckys head.
The only positive thing I have to say is I liked the world the author creates in Ever After from the buildings to the townspeople and even the overly friendly wildlife. It really set the stage for a fairytale type wedding to occur.
But this wasn't enough to give this book more than a 2 star review.
