While I'm not normally a romance reader, I do have a soft spot for stories and characters that have some personality and zip while being sweet and charming. I initially thought this story might be in the vein of Sarah Addison Allen, who has a beautiful writing style and the kind of magic you really want to believe exists. Well, Fairy Godmothers, Inc. started off with some of that - fairy godmothers living in Ever After, a protagonist known to be unlucky despite her name. But reading further into the sample, I wasn't sure what to make of the storyline or some of the backstory (e.g., "the Incident" and the reason behind the love interest's moniker) in what otherwise seemed like the start of a wholesome, kinda cheesy (just the way you'd expect) romance. Maybe it was the overemphasis on sex that seems counter to the image of three fairy godmothers cooking up a way to bring magic back to their small town.
