This books feels like a mash-up of multiple genres and if it were a candle I'd describe it this way: The top notes are Whimsey of a Middle Grade Fairy Tale, with hints of YA Dialogue. Mid notes are the Female Camaraderie of a single Quirky Girl and her BFF Cool Mom, sprinkled with Handsome Guy Who Got Away, which give way to the base notes of Fun Romance reminiscent of Confessions of a Shopaholic, but with a little more sex and fairy tale magic. There are a lot of flavors going on, but I think I'd need a long slow burn before determining whether they work together well or cause a stink... it's too early to tell. The packaging (aka cover) is cute, and captures the multiple flavors surprisingly well.
