great read about 4 generations
This book takes you through a few generations of a Filipino man who moved to American so that his future family would have a better life than him.
The story starts off with Francisco making his way to California where he becomes a field worker. While there’s a lot of violence towards Asian people, he does his best to make money so that his future family will have more than him.
This book also includes Francsco’s son (Emil), his grandson (Chris), and his great grandson (Enzo).
While each generation has its differences, you learn how the family adapts for the next generation.
I really enjoyed reading this book and comparing each generation. Each generation has lived through different events in their lives, which has shaped them to be the men that they currently are. While each generation differs, they all have the same basic want, which is to make sure the next generation has it better than they did.
This book makes me curious about what my ancestors have dealt with and how we came to be the way we are today.
