This book swept me off my feet from the start and kept me up late until I finished. Unlike some other psychological thrillers I’ve read recently, Every Last Fear was action-packed and engaging from the first page. The story starts with Matt Pine, a NYU film student, learning that his entire family was found dead while vacationing in Mexico except his brother, Danny, who is incarcerated for murdering his high school girlfriend. The writing is sharp, with just enough detail to make it relatable yet not bogging down the action. The story is told from multiple perspectives “before” and “after’ by Matt, his parents, his teenaged sister, Maggie, and the investigating FBI agent, Sarah Keller. While the action drives the plot, the storyline is woven together by the effect a true crime documentary about Danny’s possible innocence has on each family member and the small Nebraska hometown.

I’m grateful to Bookish First for allowing me to preview this book. I can’t wait for Alex Finlay’s next book! #everylastfear @alexfinlayauthor @minotaurbooks
