Every Last Fear grabs the reader's attention right at the get-go. The prologue leaves readers wanting more. The Pine family, both parents and two children die while on vacation in Mexico. The mother and the two children were found dead but no trace of blood in the house. It is thought a gas leak killed them. However the father is found in the backyard and it seems to not make sense. The sole survivors of the Pines family is Matt who is in college and Danny the other son who is in state penitentiary for murdering his girlfriend.

This true-crime psychological thriller is fast paced, will keep you on your toes, guessing who and why the murders took place. Author Finlay expertly alternates chapters between different narrators including the dysphoric & desperate father, Evan in the "before" chapters. As we learn the dysfunction in the family leading up to the event, it starts becoming increasingly eerie. At the end of each chapter, there seems to be twisted pieces of the puzzle on this dysfunctional family dynamic. None of the narrators are reliable. Are they keep secrets from each other or keeping a bigger secret?
