Every Last Fear was everything I love in a suspense novel! I was immediately drawn in by Matt Pine and everything he was going through after the death of his family. What I didn't expect, going into this book, was that we'd also get to see the points of view of his family leading up to their deaths (not a spoiler--he learns in the first chapter that his parents and two younger siblings had died.) I find it very satisfying to read a mystery where we get to see all angles of the story rather than having to guess at what happened. Everyone had their secrets, and as they started adding up, it made me wonder: how is this all going to come together?!

On a personal-taste note, I appreciated that this book refrained from getting too graphicly detailed with any of the violence or deaths. It often faded to black before the violence we knew was coming occurred, and I very much appreciated it.

I think fans of the podcast Serial, of true crime shows on Netflix, or readers who loved The Night Swim by Megan Goldin should give this one a try. I'll definitely be reading Finlay's next novel.
