Alex Finlay has written a thriller that makes the reader keep turning the page for more. The reader wants to know how the Pine family tragedies of past and present came to be and why. The story moves back and forth from years past to the present and from locations in Nebraska, New York and Mexico. The large scope of time and place allows the author to create questions in the readers' mind that can't be answered without reading further. The characters do a good job of expressing the pain of tragedy striking within the family, whether that be to parent or siblings. The question of how all of the events in the different years and locations are tied together becomes clear only at the end. For those who enjoy a fast paced, suspenseful story, Every Last Fear should be an enjoyable read.
