This first impression drops us immediately into the mind and thoughts of Scott Kelly, the man who spent a year in space. I was taken aback when he started to detail the physical ailments following the first 48 hours of his arrival back to earth. The painful rashes, allergic reactions, water retention making his legs look like monster stumps, were horrifying to read because it's not something an average person thinks about--sure, we linger on the time spent in space, how astronauts live floating around on the space station, eating food in tubes, velcro everywhere, but we don't think about what happens after they successfully return to earth. This is going to be an easy, honest, interesting read, and I'm looking forward to finishing it.
