I have said on other reviews that I am not fond of time travel books. I am beginning to change that opinion, especially if the current trend of time travel where the travel is intended to change things continues. This book is also a worthy entrant in the alternate histories category.
What if you had the ability to travel in time? What if there was something you really wanted to change, so badly that you were willing to spend years studying where and when to make that change? Would you do it? Those questions get to the heart of this story. There is also the struggle between those who want a strong leader, a tyrant or dictator, who will make everything "safe" and those who want to be free to make their own choices even if that brings pain and chaos. So the book will give you things to contemplate while you are enjoying a rip roaring thriller.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I heartily recommend it to anybody who likes speculative fiction.
