How did the world of 2017 Paris get so out of sync with what really should be happening? That’s what hooked me into “Empire of Lies” and leaves me dying to find out what happens. Is this an explainable mystery or something more frightening: a sci-fi tale involving genies, demons and characters who can travel through and alter time? What does it mean to have the Ottoman Empire extending throughout Europe and, curiously, was there ever a Hitler? And in this timeline, how did the United States get founded —and as an official Christian empire? Can’t wait to find out and see if any of the characters can reach the timeline with which we are all familiar!
