A Dark Alternate History causing a change in the future!

This sounds like a really intriguing story! Like quite the dark, alternative look at an interesting time in history which leads to insane changes in the future.
So what happened to cause all of this to happen and what the heck with with the mysterious naked, tattooed person showing up at different times in history.... weird!
