The concept of alternate histories, with a single, critical turning point is well established. This book sets a time traveler as the cause of this sharp change, at the siege of Vienna in 1683. By using the concept of a suicide bomber, the relevance to modern times is clearly established.
What I miss, at least from the description and short first look, is the reason why. There's nothing here to tell us why our traveler prefers a Muslim Europe to a Christian one. In fact, there appear to be many reasons that the Muslim Paris is worse than the Christian one.
If there's a good back story that's missing, then the book (and probable series) has a real future. Without it, I'll be giving this tale a miss.
