Elsewhere is a speculative dystopian book that follows along with the main character Vera, who lives in a town where women vanish in thin air due to an affliction and no one is sure why. They've just accepted it as their way of things and do not try to stop it from continuing.

This is a book I feel is necessary to read with a friend or to be chosen for a book club pick, because I have so many questions that need to be answered. I feel alot went over my head and I didn't get answers like I was hoping I would when I finished the book.

This book really focuses on women, as a whole, and motherhood. I definitely sensed the insinuations the author was trying to get across to the reader in regards to the mothers disappearing, how everyone speculates why those particular women are chosen and what they did wrong to vanish. It was very relatable for how mothers are made to feel in our society. Like I said there was some deep meaning to alot of this book, I just wish I had someone to discuss it more thoroughly with.

I feel the first half was a very slow start. Once we get to part 3, the plot really picked up and the last few pages were definitely the most enjoyable for me. We begin to see everything tie together. However, I wish it was tied up a little nicer, so I wouldn't be sitting here right now thinking, "What did I just read?". Overall, it wasn't a terrible book. The last half definitely improved my opinion of it. But I'm not sure I would recommend this book to anyone. I haven't read the author's previous book, Saint X, yet, but I am very interested in reading it in the future, because it has become quite popular.
