In a small remote mountain town covered in clouds, the locals are bound in tradition, and share a strange affliction in which some mothers vanish unexpectedly and completely.

I really enjoyed Schaitkin's last book, Saint X, so I was excited to get my hands on this. I love her writing style and the premise is so intriguing.

I loved the descriptions of daily life in this mountain town, and our MC Vera's experiences from childhood to motherhood.

More than anything, I loved the real ways that motherhood was portrayed, an endless juxtaposition.

This book left me conflicted. It leaves a lot to interpretation, which I liked, but I couldn't help feeling unsatisfied with the lack of closure, as I still had many of the questions I started with. Still enjoyed it overall.
