When I was a teenager, the "Gone" series changed YA dystopian fiction by overtly exploring what would happen if all adults/authority figures suddenly disappeared. "Elsewhere" appears to be a "Gone" for adults, examining how things would change if mothers were to be subjected to this, and how mother-daughter relationships would be changed.
