DNF - I read a little more than the first 100 pages (which took me 19 days!!!!) before skipping to the end and skimming. I hate not finishing books and I hate to give bad reviews but the writing was just awful. The way the teens talked was so unrealistic and painful to read. The story wasn’t interesting enough of a topic for me to read it for the storyline and I didn’t like the way issues were brought up. I wasn’t a fan of the character development either- I thought too much was said and there wasn’t a lot left to be discovered. The cover is beautiful though and it did teach me more about writing, and make me evaluate some of my own stories. I just couldn’t get through it. It has such good reviews on here, and honestly I don’t know why. I kept thinking there was just something I didn’t get. I might try getting someone else to read it, so they can validate my opinion or tell me if I’m completely wrong. I’ve heard great things about the author and don’t want to be rude, which is why I hate giving bad reviews, because having a book published means it’s probably worth it. And this one has such great reviews! It’s just my opinion and I don’t mean any offense. I can see elements people might like.
