There's a lot going on in the first few pages, but I'm most interested in Veronica's migraines and the TB hospital. I like her self-deprecating description and her wariness of Sawyer makes it clear that he will be the other half of the "US" in the title. I like that there's an immediate reference to the past, ties in nicely with the Echo in the title.
