What drew me in right away was the fact that the characters are so well-crafted and their connections to each other beautifully laid out without being dull or detracting from the story. In only a few pages I found myself empathizing with Veronica and the fact that she's in love with a young man who has no clue how she feels and will be leaving for college soon. The frequent occurrence of debilitating migraines was hinted at without being overly maudlin. I'd definitely like to see more!
