If you have some basic art knowledge and have always wanted to draw cute little animals, then you MUST get this book. I loved just looking at page after page of beautiful illustrations of darling little animals – bunnies, cats (my favorite), puppies, birds, and more.

Ms. Maday lists the basic supplies needed and an explanation of what they are used for. A color chart and an explanation of the use of warm, cool, and neutral colors is provided. I found this part especially useful as it addresses highlighting, shadows, and contrast. The remainder of the book explains the techniques used to draw the adorable animals, along with hints to really bring those little animals to life, i.e. blending and proportion, and the use of a variety of mediums., such as colored pencil, watercolor and pen and ink The book then wraps up with suggestions of putting your sketches together to make a finished scene.

The book is written in a style that is easily understandable. However, I don’t think there is enough detail for beginners. It would be a great reference book.
