Deep in a cave lives a sleeping dragon who doesn't know what day it is but the humans with their magic wake him up. I love how the author gets into the mind of the dragon and lets us know what the dragon is thinking. It's a new perspective for me to listen to the thoughts of a dragon.
I have to admit this is my first book where a dragon talks and describes how delicious roasted humans taste. Although a little bitter. This book has a lot of magic and brought me back to Medieval times when dragons lived.
The story then introduces Gill who is the county drunk. He gets tasked with fighting the dragon and discovers a lot about himself.
Anyways I really liked this book. You can tell that it is part of a series as some things aren't explained but I look forward to reading the sequels. I also enjoyed the map at the beginning of the book so you know where parts of the book take place.
