Gripping and intense from the first few pages. Usually books with multiple POVs can get confusing, but I loved how each new character we're introduced to had their own unique voices that made the chapters easy and enjoyable to read.

Now, dragons. I've read a bunch of dragon books, many this year, and I'm obsessed with them. The books I've read the dragons were kind and gentle, but I found it unique that the dragon we're introduced to is ruthless and kills without much dilemma, but you still feel for him because his actions aren't without reason or emotion. He's in despair, which is a frightening emotion for a powerful dragon.

And our main protagonist, Gulliot (or Gill for short) is an interesting character from what I got to read. Extremely flawed, but not unlikable. I really want to read more about him and see what's in store for him.

All in all, a solid beginning and I can see many people, who love varying genres, picking this book up and enjoying it.
