I don’t normally read a lot of thrillers, but Do You Follow? by J. C. Bidonde was a great one that kept me eagerly turning the page to find out what happened next!

The characters were definitely my favorite part of the novel! The way they were so different but had that ironic twist of being similar was a fun narrative choice that made the book even better to read! I really love when an author does a good job of making sure that from the first few lines of the chapter you know exactly which character’s point of view it is and this book definitely accomplished it! Alexa and Beth were two sides of the same coin and the differences in their manner of speaking and narrating was brilliant! Especially when describing the city or even the same setting in completely opposite fashions! I also love the added perspective of the therapist that broke up some of the tension in the story and provided a stable and yet still gripping viewpoint for the reader to latch on to!

The plot was very well paced and I thought Bidonde did a great job stringing the reader along and yet not being afraid to reveal the twists or past events! I’ve read my fair share of books that do that and it can be very frustrating when an author builds up to a twist but hangs on until the last minute to reveal it only for it to be lackluster. This had absolutely zero instances of that and the reveal was spectacular!

Overall I don’t have too many complaints about this book! The narrative and characters were great! If I had any criticism it would be that I felt at times there were way too many references used and it brought me out of the story some. Towards the end the constant referencing of shows, platforms, and movies was dropped and it definitely helped the story’s flow in my opinion!

But definitely go check this one out if you need a short, can’t-put-down thriller! I guarantee you it won’t disappoint and I can’t wait to read more from this author! Great job J. C. Bidonde!

CWs - frequent strong language, mention of suicide, brief violence/gore
