This book was fast-paced and seemed to be quite hard to put down in the beginning. It was pretty obvious there was an unreliable narrator, which usually means I am going to enjoy the book. However, the twist ended up falling flat for me.
The twist was rushed, revealed at nearly the end of the book without any explanation for how certain things had happened. It left me feeling like an ending has just been added to the book, so it could end. I really don't like this kind of thing. It can sometimes be sucessfully employed in literary fiction (I still don't like it in those books either), but it does not work for a thriller book like this one.
Also, it was weird how COVID was mentioned a few times, but for no actual apparent reason as it didn't have anything to do with the plot of the story. Others who enjoy thrillers may find they enjoy it, but it just was not for me.
