The novel, "Do You Follow?" ,by J.C. Bidonde had me intrigued from the time BookishFirst first had it posted on its website as an upcoming "first look". I found the summary to be quite interesting, and decided to use my bonus points to obtain this novel. I felt very fortunate to be one of the lucky winners, and have agreed to write an honest review.
The main character, Alexa, lives with her widowed father. She longs to have an independent life of her own. As luck would have it, she interviews for and receives a job as a marketing assistant in New York City. Due to past tragedies, her over protective father, and her therapist have reservations about this move. However, Alexa stands her ground and moves to the city.
Alexa's life revolves around her seemingly overbearing identical twin sister Beth, her new boyfriend Curt and her meetings with her therapist, Dr. Greer.
This novel advertises itself as "a twisting, smart, and wickedly dark thriller". I would have to agree. I literally had this book read within 24 hours! J.C. Bidonde did an amazing job of creating the characters, and the twists and turns in the plot are spot on!
There is also a "Reader's Guide" at the end of the book, that would make for great book club discussions. Also included, is an "Author's Q & A that will get the readers to know the author, J.C. Bidonde's, on a more personal level.
I would recommend this book, and I look forward to reading additional novels by this author.
