The Dirty Dozen by Lynda La Plante is a fictional story about Jane Tennison, the first female detective appointed to the all male Flying Squad (British high crimes unit). In this novel Jane and the boys are trying to catch a group of bank robbers. The book started out really slow for me; there was just too much technical jargon. With that said, it is obvious that the author did her research. I chose to continue pushing through the novel and boy am I glad. Once the setting up of the characters and the scene were complete the novel had my full attention. I enjoyed the fast pace of the robberies and the following chase of the Flying Squad as they fought to quickly identify and catch the robbers.
