Even though the timeframe places this before cell phones and the new developments in forensic science, it is full of intrigue and discovery.
I appreciate the fact that Tennison is a strong female protagonist who shows perseverance but also human faults. Obstinate might be an appropriate adjective to use for LaPlante's main character. Tennison realizes that she is treading new ground in her new position but she doesn't shy away from her own insights and means even though she is on slippery ice with her superiors.
I have liked LaPlante's earlier books in which Tennison is the main character. Her character development is excellent and the tension increases as the storyline progresses. An excellent read.
