I've said it before and I will say it again: Lynda LaPlante is amazing! I hardly ever read this kind of book (police procedural) but I am hooked on these Jane Tennison novels. The writing is superb and Jane is a wonderful character. Watching her work in a male-dominated field, in the 1980's nonetheless, you can't help but root for her. The Dirty Dozen introduces us to "The Flying Squad", a devoted to investigating robbers. The book jumps right into the action from the beginning and you can visualize the scenes unfolding. You won't want to stop turning the pages. As long as this young Jane Tennison series continues, I will keep reading them. I would recommend them to anybody who like strong female protagonists, crime-solving, and mysteries.
