I usually don't read this type of book but I am glad I did for this one. It may have been the fifth book in the series, but it definitely can be read as a standalone with only a few references from previous books.
Jane is a tough detective making her way in a very male oriented workforce. She has just been transferred to the Flying Squad, a group of all males who think that she might not be cut out of the position. Jane proves them wrong though and is tough and tenacious as they go after a gang of robbers that robbed a bank truck and are out for a bigger score.
This was a fun book, though it annoyed me sometimes when the guys on the team belittled Jane or tried to prove her incompetent for the spot on the Flying Squad. I would probably read other books in the series and enjoy them as well.
