I just don't think Lynda La Plante's novels are for me. The initial blurb of the book sounds promising - a 1980s setting, a bit of a crime, some sleuthing ... it all sounds like the type of thriller that I might actually go for. But the writing for me just leaves something to be desired. I have to get hooked right away, and I wasn't. It felt like another detective thriller that, for me, just didn't thrill.
