A genetically-enhanced team of mercenary librarians in post-apocalyptic Atlanta? Teaming up with a rogue military team of super soldiers with a hidden agenda? Everyone has really interesting super secret histories? Sign me up!

This is the my first Kit Rocha book. Kit Rocha is the pseudonym of two friends that write great books together (Donna Herren and Bree Bridges). I did look up the backlist before jumping in. From what I found, this is a departure from the duo's usual books. This is not a romance. This is book one in a new science fiction series with a splash of romance. There are many other themes, like underdog against big corporation, redemption, family, and found family. This was a gritty dark book in a gritty dark world with slivers of hope- I loved it, but think you need to know what you are signing up for! And it's definitely a science fiction book- there are lots of technology and genetic enhancements.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series. We met a lot of characters and got glimpses of their stories in this book. There was a lot of world building and setting the stage for the series. This included a fair amount of action, including fight scenes, and a lot of engaging dialogue. I was totally on board and think it will make the next stories even better.

I received an advance copy of this book from a fellow reviewer. All opinions are mine.
